Privacy policy
The short version, so you do not have to read all of it: this site sets no cookies, counts no visitors and loads not a single file from a foreign server. Fonts, icons, images and the script are all here. Exactly one thing is stored on your device, and only if you choose it yourself: whether you want the page light or dark.
This site is operated from Germany, so the sections below refer to German and European law. The English text is a translation for convenience; in case of doubt the German version applies.
1. Controller
The controller for data processing on this website within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:

2. Hosting

The host processes the data arising when the site is called up on my behalf, under a data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR. The servers are located in Germany; no transfer to third countries takes place.
3. Server log files
When you visit this site, the server automatically collects information your browser transmits and stores it in log files:
- IP address of the requesting device
- date and time of the request
- name and path of the file requested
- amount of data transferred and whether the request succeeded
- the previously visited page, if your browser sends it
- browser, version and operating system
Purpose: delivering the website, operational security, troubleshooting and defending against attacks.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest is providing the site securely and without faults.
Retention: logs are deleted after seven days at the latest. If they are needed to investigate a specific incident, they are kept until it is resolved.
This data is not merged with other sources and is not used to identify you as a person.
4. What is stored on your device
No cookies. This site sets none, neither its own nor anyone else's.
One entry in local storage, and only if you choose it. If you click Light, Dark or System in the header, the page stores your choice under the name nt-fassung in your browser's local storage. The value is exactly one of those three words. It contains no identifier, is never sent to a server, and exists only so the page looks the way you set it the next time you visit.
As long as you do not click, nothing is stored. You can remove the entry at any time through your browser settings by clearing site data for this address; the page then returns to its default appearance.
Under § 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG no consent is required for this, because it is strictly necessary to provide a service you explicitly requested: you chose the appearance yourself. No other information is stored on or read from your device, which is why this site has no consent dialog.
The language switch remembers nothing. It is an ordinary link to a second page.
5. No analytics
There is no analysis and no usage tracking, with neither a self-hosted nor a third-party tool. There is no tracking pixel, no statistics software and no visitor profiling.
6. No content from foreign servers
No fonts, map services, video platforms, icon libraries, advertising networks or third-party scripts are embedded. Every file is delivered by the same server as the page itself. When you open this site, your browser contacts no other server.
Links to GitHub, Docker and other projects are ordinary links. Only when you click one does the operator there learn of your visit, and their privacy policy applies from that point.
7. Contact by email
If you write to me, I process your address and the content of your message in order to answer it. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, and for a contract-related enquiry also (b). I delete the message once it is dealt with and no retention obligation stands in the way.
8. The application itself
This policy covers this website. It does not cover nextrmnl as an application: that runs on your own server, and you are the controller for it. There is no version operated by us, no account with us, and no place where your credentials could end up on our side.
Where the application opens connections belongs here, because you as the operator are the controller: to the machines you or your users enter as connections, and, if you set one up, to your provider for sign-in through OpenID Connect. To nobody else; there is no telemetry. One exception you can switch on, and it is off by default: the update check under Settings, Security. Switched on, nextrmnl asks GitHub's public API at most once a day for the latest published release. Nothing is sent but the request itself with nextrmnl's own version number; GitHub sees the address of your server, and for that request GitHub's privacy policy applies.
9. Your rights
You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). Please use the address above.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), for example the data protection authority responsible for your place of residence.
10. Changes
If something about the site changes, this policy is updated. The current version is always at this address.
